Art Attack is a British children's and youth program about art .
Concept and content
The concept of the program is to create original "works of art" from everyday household items (such as cornflakes boxes, milk cartons, cardboard tubes, etc.) using scissors, paint, glue and other handicraft utensils. In the British version, Art Attack was hosted from 1990 to 2007 by Neil Buchanan , who is also the inventor of the show. In the German version, Benedikt Weber moderated from 1995 to 2007 . After a four-year break, a new season was produced from August 2011 with Nicolás Artajo as the presenter.
The inventor Neil Buchanan also appeared in the German version as an artist, in which he created "giant works of art" from the materials of his respective environment between the handicraft tips. H. he created a large picture on the floor from various objects. The result of these giant works of art mostly contained specific topics related to the environment (e.g. when Neil was ice skating in an episode, he put a giant work of art by ice skaters). In the current season he no longer appears as an artist, the giant works of art are presented by Alexiev Gandman .
The handicraft instructions for “Clever Head” (originally “The Head”), a gray talking doll that represented a bust in an art museum , were summarized and repeated . He then presented his works of art, which Beni Weber (in the British original Neil) had previously created, in an ironic, mostly not entirely successful form on an easel that automatically flips up (usually underlaid with a "creaking" noise) . This was also replaced in the new edition. Now Vincent von Kokosnuss (Vincent van Coconut), a coconut palm on a small island, comments on the works of art.
Art Attack was originally broadcast on the British broadcaster CITV , in Germany under the title Disneys Art Attack on Super RTL and Toon Disney . The program continues to run u. a. in France , Spain , Italy and other European countries. Since July 14, 2011, the stations Disney Junior and since January 7, 2014 Disney Channel broadcast new episodes.
There are accompanying books for the show (for example Art Attack. The totally crazy handicraft book and the sequel Even more Art Attack ), with the help of which the individual works of art are clearly explained for re-tinkering. There were also Ehapa magazines with handicraft tips from the show.
