Artas was founded in 2006 under the name Staub und Schatten . In 2007 the band took part in the Metalchamp competition, at the final of which at the Metalcamp Festival they were chosen as the winner. This victory earned the members a contract with the Styrian metal label Napalm Records . Shortly thereafter, the name was changed to Artas and the band went into the studio to record their debut album with the help of producer Jacob Hansen ( Heaven Shall Burn among others ). This was published on September 26, 2008 under the name The Healing and contains songs in German , English and Spanish as well as a cover of Coolio's Gangsta’s Paradise . In 2009 they were the support act for Hatesphere and in 2010 for the German metalcore band Callejon (Videodrom Album Tour). On January 28th 2011 their new album Riotology was released. In addition to German, English and Spanish, French is also used as language on Riotology. After a seven-year hiatus, their third album, Ora et Gomorrah , was released on October 26, 2018 .
