Arwa Damon

Arwa Damon (born September 19, 1977 in Boston ) is an American journalist. She has been with CNN since 2006 and has headed the CNN office in Beirut since 2010 and reports as a correspondent from Lebanon and the Arab region .

Life

Damon is appointed by CNN as an expert on reports from Iraq.

In 2011 she reported on the protests in the Arab world , in particular the revolution in Egypt and the civil war in Libya . Before joining CNN, she worked as a freelancer for various news organizations in the Middle East for three years .

She studied French and Biology with a minor in International Relations . After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , she decided to plan a career outside of her majors.

She grew up in Morocco and Turkey and speaks English, Arabic , French and Turkish .

Arwa Damon is a co-founder of INARA , a humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental aid organization for Syrian children injured in the war.
