Ascenso MX 2018/19
The 2018/19 season is the tenth season of the second highest soccer division in Mexico since the Liga de Ascenso was founded, which has been officially known as Ascenso MX since the summer of 2013 .
Changes
Because the champions of the preseason ( Cafetaleros de Tapachula ) did not have a promotion license, he is also playing in the second division this season. In this way, the relegated from the first division ( Lobos de la BUAP ) had the opportunity to buy himself to remain in the top division and made use of this option. The team of Murciélagos FC was relegated from the second division and because the champions of the third division ( CD Tepatitlán de Morelos ) were also not allowed to rise, the number of teams was reduced from 16 to 15 participants.
Start of the season
The season began on Friday, July 20, 2018 with the match between the Potros UAEM and the Cafetaleros de Tapachula (3: 1). The first goal of the new second division season was scored by Argentine striker Héctor Arrigo , who gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the eleventh minute.

The biggest sensation of the young season came after eight match days on September 11, 2018, when the former first division club Dorados de Sinaloa presented former world footballer Diego Maradona as his new coach. The Dorados won the first game under his direction on September 17, 2018 in front of a home crowd with 4: 1 against the Cafetaleros de Tapachula .

While in the previous rounds in the event of a tie, the better placement in the final table was decisive for determining the winner, this rule does not apply in the final. There was an extension necessary in the Atlético San Luis (after 3: 2 in the regular season) was able to prevail by a goal from Argentine midfielder Leonardo Gabriel Torres in the 103rd minute.

This time the Spanish defender Unai Bilbao scored the decisive goal in the 102nd minute. With the two-time title win by San Luis, the farm team of Atlético Madrid is promoted to the Liga MX .
