Ashley Graham (model)
Ashley Graham (born October 30, 1987 in Lincoln , Nebraska ) is an American model . With a body mass index of 25.1, she is mostly booked as a so-called plus-size model and was the first “plus-size” model to appear in the swimsuit (swimwear) edition of the Sports Illustrated was pictured. She is the most famous model of the Lane Bryant fashion brand .
Graham stands by her body in public and, with her appearance, defies the thin image that is widespread in the model industry.
life and career
Graham grew up with her two younger sisters in Lincoln , Nebraska . At the age of twelve she was discovered in a shopping center and received her first engagements as a model. A model photographer became aware of her at the age of 15 .
When Graham was 17, Gary Dakin came across them while looking for models for a new Ford ad campaign and compared her to Eva Mendes . She was eventually discovered by Lane Bryant through the Ford advertisement. There it appeared in a new advertisement and became internationally known due to the great media success of this advertisement. From 2010 she was featured on several especially American fashion magazines such as Elle , Vogue , Harper's Bazaar and Glamor .
In 2013, Graham began designing underwear for the Canadian company Addition Elle . Graham presented a collection designed by her at New York Fashion Week in 2016 .
On February 9, 2016, Graham was finally featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue . In 2016, Graham was also on the cover of Cosmopolitan .
Graham has been a juror on the show since season 23 of America's Next Top Model TV show.
Graham has been married to filmmaker Justin Ervin since 2010 .
