The 2003/04 season was the first season of the Asia League Ice Hockey , the highest East Asian ice hockey division . The Nippon Paper Cranes became champions for the first time in the club's history .

In the regular season, each of the five teams played a total of 16 games. The first place after the regular season became champion. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a draw and a defeat after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
