Askalaphos (Argonaut)

Askalaphos ( Greek  Ἀσκάλαφος ) is a son of Ares and Astyoche in Greek mythology and thus a brother of Ialmenos .

Both brothers ruled together in Orchomenos in Boeotia , took part in the Argonaut procession and were among Helena's suitors . In the Trojan War , they jointly led the contingent of 30 Minyer ships from Orchomenos and Aspledon. Askalaphos fought together with Idomeneus against Aeneas for the body of Alkathoos . He fell in the fight against Deiphobos , who then wanted to steal the helmet from his corpse, but was driven out by Meriones .
