Assassin's Pride ( ア サ シ ン ズ プ ラ イ ド Asasinzu Puraido ) is an anime television series based on the light novel series of the same name by the author Kei Amagi . The series falls into the genres of fantasy and romance . The story follows the 13-year-old Melida Angel, who, despite her apparently aristocratic origins, is unable to release mana - a power that is only withheld from the nobility and gives its user superhuman powers. The assassin Kufa Vampire is then given the task of finding out Melida's true origin.

The anime series was shown on Japanese television between October 10, 2019 and December 26, 2019, while Crunchyroll simulcast the series in Germany in original sound with German subtitles .

The world

Starting position

The man was brought to the brink of extinction and exists only in the city-state Flandre whose districts were built in several glass domes, are connected by a glass tunnel system and only with the railroad can be achieved. Outside of these domes, the world is plunged into an eternal darkness and infested with dangerous beings, so-called Lycanthropes .

Within the domes, humanity is divided into a nobility and the bourgeoisie . Through their blood, it is possible for the nobles to manifest mana that gives the user superhuman powers and are thus equal in the fight against the Lycanthropes.

action

Melida Angel is a 13-year-old girl from the Angel family. Although she was born into this family, she is still unable to manifest and use mana, which is why her grandfather Lord Mordrew has doubts about her origins. Melida is said to have emerged from an affair between her mother and a middle-class man.

The assassin Kufa Vampire is assigned to work as a teacher Melida to find out her true origin. If Lord Mordrew's suspicions are correct, his second task is to murder Melida . Kufa concludes that Melida appears to have emerged from this affair, but decides to spare Melida's life and share his mana with her. As a result, Kufa is now forced to keep this secret from the Angel family as well as from his own guild, the White Knights , as otherwise it could cost the lives of both of them.

This turns out to be not easy, because although Melida can now use mana, many still see the "talentless" girl. Others are investigating why their Mana class - Melida is a samurai - is different from that of their family, who are of the Paladin class. But Kufa has another secret. He is a semi-lycanthrope with the class of a vampire .

production

On October 21, 2018, as part of the Fantasia Bunko Dai Kanshasai, it was announced that the light novel series would be implemented as an anime , with the exact format being announced as a television series at a somewhat later date. The series was created in the EMT Squared studio , in which series such as The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar and Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear have already been produced.

Directed by Kazuya Aiura , the screenplay was written by Deko Akao , while the character design was done by Maho Yoshikawa . The song in the opening credits Share the Light was performed by Run Girls, Run! sung while Tomori Kusunoki , who speaks in the series Melida Angel , interpreted the closing song Time for Foreigners 異 人 た ち の 時間 Ijin-tachi no Jikan .
