Asteroid in Love ( 恋 す る 小 惑星 Koisuru Asuteroido , also known as Koisuru Asteroid ) is a manga series of the Mangaka Quro that has been published since January 2017 and appears in the Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine published by Hōbunsha .

The manga was implemented as an anime series by the animation studio Dōga Kōbō , which has been published since January 3, 2020.

In her childhood, a girl named Mira meets a boy named Ao who is interested in astronomy during a summer camp . Ao explains that a star in the constellation Whale bears her name. When she learns that there is still no star with Ao's name, she promises Ao to find a star together and to baptize this Ao.

Years later, Mira goes to high school and joins the Earth Science Club, an amalgamation of the school's geology and astronomy clubs, where she meets Ao, who, to Mira's surprise, is a girl . Together with the other club members, Mira and Ao take part in various activities of the Earth Science Club in the hope of one day finding an asteroid .

Mira Konohata ( 木 ノ 幡 み ら , Konohata Mira )
Mira is the protagonist of the series. She discovered her interest in astronomy when she met Ao in her childhood and is determined to discover an asteroid with her . She is a member of the Earth Science Club at her school.
Ao Manaka ( 真 中 あ お , Manaka Ao )
Ao is a main character in the series alongside Mira. She has had an interest in astronomy since childhood. When she met Mira during a summer camp, she thought Ao was a boy. She is a reserved person.
Mari Morino ( 森 野 真理 , Morino Mari )
Mari is president of the Earth Science Club and was the president of the Astronomy Club prior to the merger.
Mikage Sakurai ( 桜 井 美景 , Sakurai Mikage )
Mikage is the past president of the geology club. After the merger of her club with the astronomy club to form the Earth Science Club, she is their vice-president.
Mai Inose ( 猪 瀬 舞 , Inose Mai )
Mai is a member of the Earth Science Club and was previously in the school's Geology Club.

Manga

Mangaka Quro started Asteroid in Love in January 2017 as a yoncoma series in the Manga Time Kirara Carat published by Hōbunsha . These were later summarized and published in several volumes in Tankōbon format. The first volume was released on March 27, 2018, the third was released on February 27, 2019.

Anime

In the April 2019 issue of the manga Time Kirara Carat , which appeared on February 28, 2019, an implementation of the manga series as an anime series was announced. Dōga Kōbō was hired as an animation studio . The director is Daisuke Hiramagi , who has already worked with the studio on an anime version of Wataten !: An Angel Flew Down to Me in the past , the script is by Yuka Yamada , the character design by Jun Yamazaki . The music was composed by Takurō Iga .

The first episode aired on January 3, 2020 on Tokyo MX , AT-X , Sun Television , KBS , ATV and BS11 . At the international level, Crunchyroll secured the rights to broadcast the series in simulcast.

Nao Tōyama , who has a speaking role in the series, interprets the song in the opening credits with Let's Walk There (original title 歩 い て い こ う! Aruiteikō! ), While Minori Suzuki sings the closing song Night Sky (original 夜空 Yozora ). The series consists of twelve episodes. Asteroid in Love will be released on three DVDs or Blu-ray discs in Japan between March and May 2020.
