Astia Walker

Astia Walker (born April 4, 1975 in Trelawny Parish ) is a former Jamaican sprinter .

She celebrated her greatest successes in the Jamaican 4 x 100 meter relay . At the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton , she won the bronze medal. Originally, as the last runner of the season with Juliet Campbell , Merlene Frazer and Beverly McDonald , she had only reached the goal in 42.40 s as fourth. Due to the subsequent disqualification of the US relay because of a doping offense of their runners Kelli White and Marion Jones , the Jamaicans moved up one place in the ranking. Walker also won the silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester , along with Elva Goulbourne , Juliet Campbell and Veronica Campbell-Brown in 42.73 s .

As a single starter, she competed in international championships at various distances. In 1997 she reached the semi-finals in the 100-meter hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Athens . At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , she competed in the 200-meter run , but was injured in the quarter-finals. In 2001 she won the silver medal in the 100-meter run at the Central America and Caribbean Championships , and at the World Championships in Edmonton she failed over the same distance in the quarter-finals.

Astia Walker was 1.80 m tall and had a competition weight of 60 kg.
