Astrid Dehe
Astrid Dehe (born January 28, 1965 in Jülich ) is a German writer .
Life
Dehe grew up in Aachen . During her school days, she worked as a freelance journalist for the Aachener Zeitung and as a freelancer for Bergmoser + Höller Verlag . After graduating from the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Aachen , she studied German , Catholic theology and Romance studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . Alongside her studies, she worked a. a. as a translator for Concilium . She has been working as a teacher since 1995, currently as a senior teacher at the Marienschule Münster . Dehe is a member of the Philologists Associationand the PEN Center Germany .
Literary work
Since 2008 Dehe has formed a literary working group with Achim Engstler , which began with a shared passion for Franz Kafka . Dehe and Engstler have so far published two volumes of essays on Kafka and four works of fiction, including the novella Auflaufend Wasser , which tells the fate of the Baltrum sailor Tjark Evers , and the novel Nagar's Night , which focuses on Shalom Nagar, the prison guard who opposes his The will of Adolf Eichmann's executioner was determined. In her novel Unter Schwalbenzinnen. Florence, spring 1442 Dehe and Engstler invent the genesis of the legendary Voynich manuscript , in their photopoeia The Fleeting Glory of Mr. Neubronner they look at the world from a dove's perspective with the pharmacist and inventor Julius Neubronner . Although Dehes and Engstler's works of fiction all have historical themes and are based on careful research, they would be misunderstood as historical literature. Rather, they try to use literary fiction to give current meaning to past events and fates.
