Astrid Möller

Dagmar Astrid Möller (born March 1, 1961 in Berlin ) is a German ancient historian .

Astrid Möller completed her studies in Ancient and New History as well as Classical Archeology at the Free University of Berlin in 1986 with a Magistra Artium , two years later she completed her Master of Studies in Classical Archeology at the University of Oxford with John Boardman . The doctorate followed in 1990 with Hans-Joachim Gehrke with the dissertation Naukratis - Trade in Archaic Greece at the Free University of Berlin. From 1991 to 1995 Möller was a research assistant at the Collaborative Research Center 321 Transitions and Tensions between Orality and Written Form of the German Research Foundation at the University of Freiburg , and in 1998/99 she was a Fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC , Feodor Lynen Fellow at Dipartimento di Scienze Storiche dell'Antichità from the University of Perugia . In 2002 she qualified as a professor at the University of Freiburg with a thesis on genealogies, lists, synchronisms. Studies in Greek chronography and received the license to teach . In 2004 Möller became a professor at the Department of Ancient History at the University of Freiburg, where she also represented the chair of Hans-Joachim Gehrke in 2010 after he moved to the presidency of the German Archaeological Institute and the management of the seminar. Afterwards she was appointed Academic Councilor for life and appointed as an adjunct professor. In 2012 Möller became an academic senior councilor. She is the Liaison Lecturer of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom at the University of Freiburg and a member of the selection committee.

Möller primarily researches the archaic and classical period with a focus on social and economic history . In addition, she deals with Greek historiography, especially chronography .
