Carambolage is the eleventh studio album by German rock musician Peter Maffay . It was released in 1984.

Publications

The album was released on LP and CD in 1984 in Germany. There is also one in Japan among the international publications. In 2006 it came out as part of the “Audiothek Box” with three bonus tracks (Germany and Austria).

Music style and lyrics

The music style is rock / pop rock. The texts revolve around social and political issues of the time: greed and consumption ("heart attack"), outsiders of society ("this time he defended himself", "paradise is only borrowed"), lovesickness ("a thousand dreams far") , a comment on the global political situation in 1984 ("If the mute would talk"), freedom ("shadows tattooed in the skin", "where I have never been", "carnival of the night"), the search for oneself (" Carambolage ”,“ It's hot outside ”) and a metaphor for German history (“ Was ein Land ”).

The album came in at number 1 in Germany and number 6 in Switzerland and was awarded a platinum record for 500,000 sold records within a very short time. The album also produced another hit with Carnival of the Night (50th place in Germany).
