Tattoos [tə'tu: z] is a compilation album with new recordings by the German musician Peter Maffay . It was released on January 29, 2010 on the Ariola label . Maffay described the album as a "gift to his fans". The album was the second most successful album of 2010 in Germany and could only be trumped by Große Freiheit von Unheilig .

Emergence

The album features Peter Maffay's greatest hits in newly recorded versions, as well as a previously unreleased song by him. The songs were re-recorded with the accompaniment of the orchestra "The Wroclaw Score Orchestra", the selection was made after an Internet vote. In November 2010 Maffay started a promotional tour in which the Philharmonic Volkswagen Orchestra played live.

According to Maffay, the title " Tattoos " describes his relationship to his own songs:

“There are those who at some point get stabbed on the arm or somewhere. You see them and the moment they are made you really feel them. You know it is something that is inextricably linked to you. And songs and music are a bit like that too. "
