Atomic City is a city in Bingham County in the US state of Idaho . An estimated 50 people live in the settlement; in the United States Census 2010 , 29 residents were counted.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a floor area of 0.3 km².
history
The settlement used to be called Midway, which was probably due to the fact that it is halfway between the towns of Blackfoot and Arco . The place had significantly more inhabitants than the neighboring DOE facility was even larger. There is currently a shop and a bar in the village. Most of the people who grew up here have moved away and most of the current residents are retired. There is a parking space for campers on the southern edge of the city and stock car races are held in summer .
Demographics
At the 2010 census there were 29 people in 17 households in the village. The population density at that time was an average of 102 inhabitants per km². 48 residential units were recorded.
Economy
The Experimental Breeder Reactor I was operated near the site .
