Atila Biro

Atila Biró (often also Attila Biro ) (born March 20, 1931 in Budapest , † March 22, 1987 in Paris ) was a Hungarian-French painter .

Life

His father was an architect and settled in Saarbrücken after the Second World War .
Attila studied architecture from 1951 at the École des Beaux-Arts Paris , from 1953 at the Technical University of Stuttgart . In addition, he was constantly concerned with painting and took part in courses with Willi Baumeister , in working groups on philosophy and aesthetics with Max Bense and art history seminars with Hans Wentzel .

Through his friendship with Georg Karl Pfahler , Group 11 was founded in 1956 , in which Friedrich Sieber and Günther C. Kirchberger were also involved. First group exhibition in 1957 at galerie 17 in Munich , then in rapid succession exhibitions at the 'new vision center gallery' in London , in the 'Galerie les contemporains' in Brussels , later in the' galleria la Tartaruga 'in Rome and in the' drian gallery ' in London.

In 1958, Biro completed his studies in architecture with a degree in engineering. He moved to Paris, worked in various architectural offices until painting could make a living. He gave himself the stage name Atila.

Solo exhibitions and a. in Paris, Rotterdam, Zurich, Stuttgart, Brussels, Gothenburg and Amsterdam, and in 1970 the acquisition of French citizenship.

  • 1978 Execution of ceiling paintings for one of the streets in the Forum des Halles in Paris using a new technique on Formica panels
  • Sculptural works in collaboration with architects and other artists.
  • Further works in private and public collections, etc. a. Musée d'art Moderne de la Ville de Paris , Museum Ostend, Albertina Vienna, Bavarian State Collections, Munich.
