Aude Amadou (born February 29, 1980 in Coutances ) is a French politician of the party La République en Marche (REM) and former professional handball player . She has been a member of the National Assembly since 2017 .

Life

Amadou passed her Baccalauréat littéraire in Segré , her subsequent final examination in business subjects, the Bac ES , she completed at the Lycée Vial in Nantes . She first started studying in Tours , and finally obtained a European diploma in communication sciences in Toulon .

During her almost 17-year handball career, Amadou was in various clubs such as the CJF Fleury Loiret Handball , the Toulon Saint-Cyr Var Handball and the OGC Nice Côte d'Azur Handball, mostly in the top French league, where the backcourt player also often played as a team captain acted. In 2012, Amadou decided to end her career in a management position at the La Bulle à Idées agency , which specializes in sporting events, and was briefly part of the N2 amateur club from Moncoutant-sur-Sèvre again in 2017 .

Amadou got into politics by reading the political essay Révolution , which Emmanuel Macron published in the run-up to the 2017 presidential election . This book motivated them to become politically active themselves and to stand up “for their personal values”, as Amadou told the daily Le Figaro .

In the parliamentary elections in 2017 Amadou resigned as newcomer for REM in the fourth constituency of Loire-Atlantique on, reached in the first ballot 39.20 percent of the valid votes and was in the runoff against Vincent Egron ( FI ) with a vote share of 56.93 percent elected to the National Assembly.

Positioning as a MP

Together with Régis Juanico, Amadou chairs the bipartisan working group on the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, which was constituted in December 2017.

After the Projet d'aéroport du Grand Ouest for the relocation of Nantes airport to the municipality of Notre-Dame-des-Landes was officially dropped by Prime Minister Édouard Philippe in January 2018 due to popular resistance, Amadou campaigned for a fundamental renewal of the already existing airport and realignment of the runways.

Amadou is also a member of various groups in the National Assembly:

  • to promote economic cooperation with Africa,
  • to protect unaccompanied minors,
  • for the assumption of social responsibility by companies,
  • to promote community and volunteering and
  • to maintain the French welfare state
