Moncoutant-sur-Sèvre is a French municipality with 5046 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement Bressuire and the Canton of Cerizay .

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by amalgamating the previous municipalities of Le Breuil-Bernard , La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne , Moncoutant , Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle , Pugny and Saint-Jouin-de-Milly , all of them have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Moncoutant.

The municipality is located around 15 kilometers southwest of Bressuire . The municipality is crossed by the Sèvre Nantaise river. Neighboring municipalities are: Courlay in the north, Chanteloup in the northeast, La Chapelle-Saint-Laurent in the east, Largeasse in the southeast, L'Absie and Saint-Paul-en-Gâtine in the south, Breuil-Barret in the southwest, Saint-Pierre-du- Chemin to the west and La Forêt-sur-Sèvre to the northwest.
