Glénay is a French municipality with 569 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Bressuire and the canton of Bressuire (until 2015: canton of Saint-Varent ). The inhabitants are called Glénéens .

location

Glénay is located about 18 kilometers east-northeast of Bressuire and about 55 kilometers northwest of Poitiers in the wine-growing region of Vins du Thouarsais and on the Thouaret . Glénay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Varent in the north, Airvault in the east and south-east, Boussais in the south, Faye-l'Abbesse in the south-west and Pierrefitte in the west.
