The District of Saint-Varent was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement Bressuire , in Deux-Sevres and in the region of Poitou-Charentes ; its main town was Saint-Varent . Claude Aubin ( DVD ) was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 2004 to 2015 .

The canton of Saint-Varent was 168.27 km² and had 5,434 inhabitants ( as of 1999 ), which corresponded to a population density of around 32 inhabitants per km².
