It was created with effect from January 1, 2016 through the merger of the previous municipalities of Argenton-les-Vallées , Le Breuil-sous-Argenton , La Chapelle-Gaudin , La Coudre , Moutiers-sous-Argenton and Ulcot .

The Ouère river is dammed in Argenton-les-Vallées and then flows into the Argenton . Neighboring communities are Saint Maurice Étusson with Étusson and Saint-Maurice-la-Fougereuse in the northwest, Genneton in the north, Val en Vignes with Cersay and Massais in the northeast, Mauzé-Thouarsais and Coulonges-Thouarsais in the east, Bressuire and Saint-Aubin-du- Plain in the south as well as Voulmentin with Voultegon (former point of contact) and Saint-Clémentin in the west.
