Cerizay is a French municipality with 4768 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement Bressuire and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Cerizay . The inhabitants are called Cerizéens .

geography

The Sèvre Nantaise River runs in the southwest of the municipality . Cerizay is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Combrand in the north and north-west, Le Pin in the north and north-east, Cirières in the east, La Forêt-sur-Sèvre in the south-east, Saint-André-sur-Sèvre in the south and south-west, and Saint-Mesmin in the south-west Montravers to the west.

The national routes 160bis and 744 run through the municipality . The train station of Cerizay is located on the railway line from Sables d'Olonne after Tours .
