Pugny is a commune Déléguée in the French community Moncoutant-sur-Sevre in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It has 229 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The inhabitants are called Pugnassia .

On January 1, 2019, the municipality of Pugny merged with La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne , Moncoutant , Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle , Le Breuil-Bernard and Saint-Jouin-de-Milly to form the Commune nouvelle Moncoutant-sur-Sèvre. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality of Pugny belonged to the Parthenay arrondissement and the Cerizay canton (until 2015: Moncoutant canton )

geography

Pugny is about twelve kilometers south-southwest of the city center of Bressuire . The municipality of Pugny was surrounded by the villages of Chanteloup in the north, La Chapelle-Saint-Laurent in the east, Largeasse in the south, Le Breuil-Bernard in the west and Moncoutant in the north-west.
