La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne is a commune Déléguée in the French community Moncoutant-sur-Sevre in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It has 324 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

The municipality of La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne merged with Le Breuil-Bernard , Moncoutant , Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle , Pugny and Saint-Jouin-de-Milly to form the Commune nouvelle Moncoutant-sur-Sèvre on January 1, 2019 . Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality of La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne belonged to the Arrondissement Parthenay and the canton Cerizay (until 2015: canton Moncoutant ).

La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne is about 40 kilometers north of Niort . The Sèvre Nantaise delimits the Commune déléguée in the north and north-west. The municipality of La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne was surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Le Breuil-Bernard in the north, Largeasse in the east, L'Absie in the south and southeast, Saint-Paul-en-Gâtine in the south and southwest and Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle in the West and northwest.
