Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle is a commune Déléguée in the French community Moncoutant-sur-Sevre in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It has 597 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The inhabitants are called moutrains .
The municipality of Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle was merged on January 1, 2019 with La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne , Moncoutant , Le Breuil-Bernard , Pugny and Saint-Jouin-de-Milly to form the Commune nouvelle Moncoutant-sur-Sèvre. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality of Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle was part of the Parthenay arrondissement and the Cerizay canton (until 2015: Moncoutant canton )

The municipality of Moutiers-sous-Chantemerle was surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of La Forêt-sur-Sèvre in the north, Moncoutant in the northeast, Le Breuil-Bernard in the east and northeast, La Chapelle-Saint-Étienne in the south and east, and Saint-Paul-en -Gâtine in the south, Breuil-Barret in the southwest and Saint-Pierre-du-Chemin in the west.
