Audra Plepytė

Audra Plepytė (also Audra Plepytė-Jara , born October 30, 1971 in Vilnius , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian diplomat . She was the Lithuanian ambassador to Spain and has been the permanent representative of her country to the United Nations since August 2017 .

career path

Plepytė entered her country's diplomatic service in 1994 and was employed by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997 . As the first secretary, she took over the acting management of the America department . In 1998 she moved to the Council of the Baltic Sea Council's (CBSS) commissioner's office for democratic institutions and human rights in Copenhagen in an advisory capacity . From February to July 1999, Plepytė headed the North European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She then worked at the Lithuanian Embassy to the United States in Washington, DC

In 2003, Plepytė joined the Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the United Nations in New York as the deputy of Gediminas Šerkšnys . In August 2004, Raimonda Murmokaitė succeeded her and she headed the Department of Human Rights and NGOs at the Ministry . In 2008, Plepytė took over the management of the Department of International Missions and Conflict Prevention before becoming Director of the Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009 . From 2004 to 2009 she also worked at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union in Brussels as a deputy in the Political and Security Committee.

Audra Plepytė received her accreditation as Lithuanian Ambassador to Spain on March 2, 2010 . Non-resident she was ambassador to Argentina and at the same time permanent representative to the World Organization for Tourism (UNWTO) in Madrid . In January 2015 she became Director of the Department for the European Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On August 18, 2017, Plepytė, succeeding Raimonda Murmokaitė, presented António Guterres with her accreditation as Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the United Nations.
