The Aue ( tributary of the Oste in the north of Lower Saxony in Germany .
) is an approximately 20 km long, left or southwesterngeography
Before the Neuhaus-Bülkauer Canal was built, the floodplain was the natural runoff of the Balksee in the southwest of the Wingst municipality on the southern edge of the Land Hadeln municipality . The Balksee is fed by several streams. Today the floodplain has only an indirect connection with the Balksee and rises on its northern edge. As a former creek, the floodplain has no natural gradient. The water level is artificially kept below sea level by two sluices and a pumping station .
