August Ferdinand Graf von Merveldt (born April 8 or April 9, 1759 in Münster ; † May 6, 1834 ibid) was a German nobleman and politician.

Von Merveldt was the son of the court marshal and chamberlain from the Electorate of Cologne, Clemens August von Merveldt, and his first wife, Antonia Maria Ferdinande, née von Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht and Wehrden (1733–1778). In 1783 he married Countess Maria Theresia von Pergen. In 1806 he married Antonia von Twickel (born September 1, 1784 - June 1, 1842), the daughter of Clemens August von Twickel . The second marriage resulted in two sons ( Ferdinand von Merveldt and Karl von Merveldt ) and five daughters.

He was assigned to his father by an electoral act on July 23, 1777 in the office of Amtdrosten in Amt Wolbeck and after the death of his father became the last electoral officialdrost in Wolbeck and in 1783 privy councilor . After the end of the Electoral Cologne rule in the Duchy of Westphalia , he became a Prussian secret war and domain council. Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom und zum Stein offered him a position as a Prussian district administrator, but he turned this down for family reasons and to preserve his independence. In the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 he accepted the position of President of the Administrative College in Munster, but remained critical of French rule.

At the Congress of Vienna, an exchange of territory was agreed between the Grand Duchy of Hesse and Prussia and the Duchy of Westphalia became Prussian. In the following Prussian constitutional discussion he was a spokesman for the Westphalian nobility. In 1817 he published the work "Impression of some documents to illuminate the relationships between landlords and farmers in the Prince Diocese of Münster". In 1822 he was a member of the shop stewards commission in Berlin. From 1826 to 1831 he was a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Westphalia and deputy president of the parliament.

In 1815 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class.
