Clemens August von Twickel (politician)

Clemens August Freiherr von Twickel (born April 29, 1755 in Münster , † March 31, 1841 in Havixbeck ) was a German manor owner and politician from the Westphalian nobility of Twickel .

Von Twickel was the son of Clemens August von Twickel and his wife Sophia Bernhardina von Ledebur zu Perutz and Wicheln. Von Twickel, who was a Catholic denomination, was married to Franziska Ferdinande Maria, née von Rump. Several children emerged from the marriage:

  • Antonie (September 1, 1784 - June 1, 1842) ⚭ June 4, 1806 Count Ferdinand August von Merveldt and Lembeck († May 6, 1834)

Von Twickel was the owner of a manor. In addition, he held a number of public and court offices. He was official drost in Rheine and Beverungen, chief kitchen master, privy councilor and land drost in the Principality of Rheina-Wolbeck and Erbschenk in the Principality of Münster . In the French era he was Maire von Havixbeck and Billerbeck, after which he was mayor of Havixbeck. From 1826 to 1831 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia .
