Maximilian Franz Xaver Heinrich Maria Graf von Korff called Schmising – Kerssenbrock (born November 14, 1781 in Münster , † October 18, 1850 there ) was a Prussian district administrator in the Halle district in 1817 and 1818.

Von Korff called Schmising-Kerssenbrock came from the Westphalian nobility . His father, Clemens August Heinrich von Korff called Schmising (* 1749, † 1821) was Oberhofmarschall of the Elector of Cologne and the Prince-Bishop of Münster and was raised to the Prussian count status in 1816 and founded the counts line in Westphalia. Von Korff had become master of Brincke Castle through Fideikommiss . His mother was Elisabeth Bernhardine Freiin von Nagel (* 1756, † 1809). His brother Clemens became district administrator in the Warendorf district .

Life

On March 8, 1804, he was appointed District Administrator of the Münster district, subject to passing a successful examination. He passed this test in front of the Münster Chamber on April 14, 1804, so that on May 23, 1804 he was finally appointed district administrator of the Münster district. He was commander of the 4th battalion of the Minden-Ravensberg Landwehr Regiment and in 1815 provisional commander of the 7th Westphalian Infantry Regiment of the Landwehr. In 1813 he was a member of the government commission of the County of Ravensberg. On October 10, 1816, the Minden district government appointed him district administrator of the Halle district, subject to royal approval. The definitive appointment as district administrator of the Halle district was on April 8, 1817. On June 18, 1818 he was released from civil service at his own request. The reason for this were many private businesses.

Von Korff was elected to the district deputy of the Halle district and on March 26, 1832 to the second candidate for the office of district administrator. The request to the Prussian king to transfer the business of the Halle District Office to him was not granted. He was also head of the Westfälische Provinzial Versicherung Aktiengesellschaft . From 1826 to 1833 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for the Minden-Ravensberg constituency and the status of knighthood. From 1837 to 1845 he represented the Prince of Bentheim-Tecklenburg in the provincial parliament and in 1847 was a deputy member of the first United State Parliament .
