August Kaufhold (architect)

August Kaufhold (* in the 19th century ; † after 1942, probably in Berlin ) was a German architect who lived and worked in Berlin-Friedenau at the beginning of the 20th century . Most of the church buildings he designed were built from brick in the neo-Gothic style.

Life

The origin and the educational path of Kaufhold are not yet known. His brother Josef Kaufhold , with whom he partly worked, lived and worked as an architect in Düsseldorf with the address Kronprinzenstraße 27.

During his professional life, August Kaufhold lived in Berlin-Friedenau , where he first lived in Bismarckstrasse 29 and later in Schwalbacher Strasse 5. From 1929 to 1943 it was listed in the official telephone book for Berlin and the surrounding area with the address Im Dol 56 in the upscale residential district of Berlin-Dahlem .

In the course of his working life, August Kaufhold designed more than ten Catholic churches in the area of ​​today's Archdiocese of Berlin between 1904 and 1930 , including the St. Eduard Church in Berlin-Neukölln and the Church of St. Mary's Birth in Viereck (Western Pomerania) . Most of his buildings were built in the style of the neo-Gothic brick construction and are now a listed building .
