Ludwig August Friedrich Siebert Pseudonym: August Kornfeger (born July 31, 1805 in Nymphenburg , † July 1, 1855 in Jena ) was a German physician.

Life

August was born as the son of the royal Bavarian stable master Friedrich Siebert. Until August 1817 he attended the Latin preparatory classes in Munich and in 1820 the grammar school in Neuburg an der Donau . In 1824 he moved to the University of Erlangen , where he initially devoted himself to studying philosophy and theology. During his studies he became a member of the Arminia Erlangen fraternity in 1824 . Influenced by the anatomist Gottfried Fleischmann (* February 23, 1777 in Erlangen; † August 22, 1850 ibid.) He turned to the study of medicine. In 1826 he continued his medical studies at the University of Würzburg , where he became a student of Johann Lukas Schönlein . On April 11, 1829 he did his doctorate with the work contributions to the pathological anatomy of the tuberculosis of the malacia, the gastric scirrhen and the aortic aneurysms to the doctor of medicine. In 1831 he became assistant doctor to Johann Christian Pfeufer (born August 22, 1780 in Bamberg; † March 23, 1852 ibid.) At the city hospital in Bamberg and became a general practitioner there in 1832.

In 1846 he became a full professor of medicine at the University of Jena and associated with it director of the state hospitals in Jena. In 1853 he was given the title of Hofrat of Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach and in the winter semester of 1853 he took part in the organizational tasks of the Salana as rector of the Alma Mater . Siebert continued Adolph Henkes Zeitschrift für Staatsarzneikunde (born 1841 to 1846), was co-editor of the annual report on the progress of pharmacy in 1843 (Erlangen 1844) and of the Jenaische Annalen für Physiologie und Medicin (1849, 2nd vol.). He wrote numerous pathological-anatomical articles for the Allgemeine medicinische Zeitschrift , the Annalen der Staatsarzneikunde , the Medicinischen Argos , the correspondence sheet of Bavarian doctors , Carl Christian Schmidt's Encyclopedia of the whole medicine etc. Under the pseudonym August Kornfeger he wrote humorous-satirical writings. In 1848 he became a member of the Reichstag and then elected to the Thuringian state parliament.

Siebert had married the Würzburg merchant's daughter Dorothea Seisser. The children of the marriage were Johannes Lucas Siebert (* September 21, 1841 in Bamberg; † November 13, 1913 in Jena) and Friedrich Siebert (* February 22, 1829 in Würzburg; † May 20, 1882 in Jena), who also became doctors .
