August Theodor Müller

August Theodor Müller (born April 27, 1818 in Opole , † July 10, 1902 in Bunzlau ) was a royal Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the field artillery regiment No. 26.

Life

Müller was the son of the government office director August Müller († May 21, 1858) and his wife Friederike Müller († September 14, 1859). He attended high school in Opole. After graduating, he joined the 6th Artillery Brigade as a gunner in October 1835. From October 1837 to September 1841 he graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School . In March 1839 he was appointed Portepeefähnrich and aggregated as Seconde Lieutenant in October 1840 . After his return he was appointed artillery officer with a patent on October 8, 1849 and in October 1843 as a department adjutant. He was then sent to the General War School from October 1844 to June 1847 and served in the 3rd Uhlan Regiment from July 1 to September 30, 1846 and in the Kaiser Franz Garde Grenadier from July 16 to September 30, 1846 - Regiment No. 2 .

After his return from the war school, he came from July 15 to September 30, 1847 in the guards pioneer department . From May 15 to November 1, 1849 he was assigned to take up the fortress of Glatz and the surrounding area.
He was promoted to Premier-Lieutenant on June 22, 1852 and was commanded from May 25, 1855 in the topographic department of the General Staff . From October 1, 1856 to July 1, 1857 he was a teacher at the artillery and engineering school and was promoted to captain on January 1, 1857. He briefly returned to the regiment and was again a teacher in the artillery and engineering school from October 1 to June 1, 1858. On May 1, 1858, he became battery chief in the 6th Artillery Regiment. On December 12, 1865, he was promoted to major and transferred to the 8th Artillery Brigade as a department commander, and on June 8, 1866, he was appointed commander of the 2nd Division of the 6th Artillery Brigade.

During the German War , from July 4 to September 1, 1866, he was part of the command that was responsible for the removal of weapons and other captured equipment from the Königinhof . From July 15 to August 20, 1866 he was with the containment corps in Josefstadt and Königgrätz. On January 14, 1868, he came from the square to the Neisse fortress as an artillery officer . Promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 18, 1869 , he joined the 2nd division of field artillery regiment No. 6 as commander on May 12, 1870.

During the Franco-Prussian War he took part in the bombardment of Pfalzburg, the sieges of Toul and Paris and the battles of Villejuif, Vitry, Chevilly , Thiais and Chaisy-le-Roi. For this he received on 18 October 1870, the Iron Cross 2nd class and on 18 August 1871 the character as a colonel .

After the war, on December 23, 1871, he was granted a patent as colonel and at the same time was entrusted with the command of field artillery regiment No. 3 and was placed à la suite of the regiment. On March 5, 1872, he was confirmed as commander. From November 1, 1872 he was in command of the field artillery regiment No. 10 and from May 7, 1874 of the field artillery regiment No. 26, before he was put up for disposition on November 12, 1874 with a pension and regimental uniform. On August 16, 1876 he was given the character of Major General.

Müller married Sylvia Sophie Friederike Emilie Elisabeth von Clausewitz on March 24, 1870 in Neisse (* January 15, 1841, † December 17, 1905). The couple had two children:
