August Wörndle by Adelsfried
August Wörndle von Adelsfried (born June 22, 1829 in Vienna ; † April 26, 1902 there ) was an Austrian history painter .
Life
August Wörndle studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1844 and became a late Nazarene under the influence of his teacher Joseph von Führich . In 1853 he went to Rome on an imperial scholarship and stayed there until 1859. As an employee of Peter von Cornelius he was involved in the creation of the cardboard boxes for the "Campo Santo", a burial place of the House of Hohenzollern in Berlin planned by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. involved. In 1872 he married his teacher's daughter.
Works
His most important works include the frescoes in the chapel of Ambras Castle near Innsbruck and in the parish church of St. Laurentius von Wörgl .
