August Wentzel

August Wentzel (born January 30, 1799 in Breslau ; † May 11, 1860 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a higher regional judge , Wentzel studied law in Heidelberg and Jena . During his studies in 1817 he became a member of the Old Heidelberg Burschenschaft , of which he was head and spokesman several times between 1817 and 1819 and for which he was a representative on the constituent boys' day . In 1819 he was seriously wounded in a duel . After his studies, he was first judge of the higher regional court, then until 1836 director of the regional court in Breslau and then director of the principality court in Neisse , finally president of the higher regional court in Ratibor . There he became chief president of the court of appeal in 1852 . He was promoted to Dr. iur. appointed hc. From 1849 to 1860 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives .
