In the run-up to the celebrations for the 100th birthday of the poet Johann Peter Hebel on May 10, 1860, a Hebel committee was founded in Schopfheim. Porbeck took over the chairmanship of the executive board and also tried to coordinate with the lever committee in Schwetzingen , where funds were collected for an appropriate lever tomb. His work contributed to the fact that a memorial for the poet was erected on the Hebelhöhe in Schopfheim and a lever foundation was established.
