August von Asbrand-Porbeck

August Ludwig Asbrand called von Porbeck (born August 9, 1811 in Rastatt , † March 4, 1863 in Gernsbach ) was a German administrative officer.

Life

Asbrand was the son of Baden majors August Christian Ferdinand Asbrand and his wife Louise of Porbeck born. August Asbrand studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1831 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg . In 1834 he was adopted by his mother's uncle, Otto von Porbeck , and was called Asbrand, known as von Porbeck . In 1835 he was accepted into the Baden civil service as a legal trainee and in 1838 he and the government director of the Upper Rhine District , Friedrich von Reck, were responsible for the fire police order for the Grand Ducal Baden capital of Freiburg. In 1840 he was transferred from Karlsruhe to the Oberamt Rastatt as a legal assessor .

In 1841 he married Luise Thilo, the daughter of the court director Wilhelm Thilo. The daughters Pauline (∞ Ernst von Bergmann ) and Karoline were born in 1842 and 1844, and the son Viktor in 1846.

In 1849 he was appointed bailiff and board member of the district office of Schopfheim . In 1854 he was promoted to senior bailiff. A year later he founded one of the first women's associations in the Grand Duchy of Baden with the local dean in Schopfheim . In the run-up to the celebrations for the 100th birthday of the poet Johann Peter Hebel on May 10, 1860, a Hebel committee was founded in Schopfheim. Porbeck took over the chairmanship of the executive board and also tried to coordinate with the lever committee in Schwetzingen , where funds were collected for an appropriate lever tomb. His work contributed to the fact that a memorial for the poet was erected on the Hebelhöhe in Schopfheim and a lever foundation was established.

From 1860 until his death in 1863 he was the head of the Gernsbach district office .
