Auguste Pünkösdy

Auguste Schirokauer-Pünkösdy (born August 28, 1890 in Vienna ; † October 1, 1967 there ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

She began her acting career in 1913 at the Volksbühne in Vienna. In 1914 she moved to Berlin, where she was a member of the Deutsche Theater ensemble until 1921 . In 1921 she became a member of the Burgtheater and married the businessman Schirokauer, from whom she divorced in 1924.

After a few silent film roles , she appeared in talkies from the mid-30s, including several times in Viennese films . She always remained a supporting actress , who embodied the most varied of marginal characters, from the cook in confetti (1936) to the empress in Der liebe Augustin (1940). In 1961 she was awarded the Cross of Honor for Art and Science . Schirokauer-Pünkösdy is buried in an honorary grave in the Neustift cemetery (group 2, row 15, number 16).
