Aurelia Pentón

Aurelia Pentón ( Aurelia Catalina Pentón Conde; born February 13, 1941 in Jatibonico , Sancti Spíritus ) is a former Cuban sprinter and middle-distance runner .

In 1967 she won the Central American and Caribbean Athletics Championships over 400 m and 800 m . At the Pan American Games in Winnipeg she was seventh over 800 m.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, she was fifth over 400 m .

In 1969 she won silver over 400 m and bronze over 800 m at the Central America and Caribbean Championships. In 1970 she won over 400 m silver at the Central America and Caribbean Games and bronze at the Universiade . In 1971, a silver medal over 800 m at the Central America and Caribbean Championships was followed by fourth place over 400 m and silver in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Pan American Games in Cali .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she reached the semifinals over 400 m and was eliminated in the 4-by-400-meter relay in the preliminary run.

In 1973 she won the Central American and Caribbean Championships over 400 m, and in 1974 she won gold over 400 m and silver over 800 m at the Central America and Caribbean Games. At the Pan American Games in Mexico City in 1975 , she won bronze in the 4-by-400-meter relay.

In 1977 bronze medals over 400 m and 800 m followed at the Central American and Caribbean Championships, and at the World Cup in Athletics in Düsseldorf she was fifth in each case over 400 m and in the American 4 x 400 meter relay. At the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1978, she managed a double victory over 400 m and 800 m. 1979 she won at the Pan American Games in San Juan silver in the 4-by-400-meter relay as well as bronze over 800 m and was fourth over 400 m. At the Athletics World Cup in Montreal , she was fifth in the American 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 1972 she became Polish champion over 400 m.
