The Aurora Memorial National Park is located in the area of the towns of Baler and Maria Aurora in the center of the Aurora Province and in the east of the Nueva Ecija Province , near the border of the Nueva Vizcaya Province . The national park is located in the southeastern part of the Caraballo Mountains , in the northeast is Mount Dingalan, which belongs to the Sierra Madre . The national park covers an area of 7,090 hectares and was established on August 11, 1941 when Presidential Decrees No. 774 and No. 130 came into force. As part of the Sierra Madre Biosphere Corridor, it is protected by the 1992 NIPAS Act.
The topography of the national park is described as mountainous terrain, it occupies an altitude band from 200 meters in the north to 1000 meters in the south. Most of the area of the national park is covered by lowland rainforest, smaller mountain forests and bushland. Smaller parts of the park are used for agriculture, there are smaller rice fields and gardens around smaller villages.
The Aurora Memorial National Park is an important refuge for endangered species such as the Philippine Duck , the Philippine Eagle , the Philippines Hawk-Eagle , the blood Swing Fruchttaube who spotted fruit dove (Ducula carola) , the Luzon-Spatelschwanzpapagei (Prioniturus luconensis) , the Kochpitta Pitta kochi and the Luzon red chalk (Rhyacornis bicolor) from the flycatcher family .
