The Minalungao National Park is located in the Nueva Ecija Province on the island of Luzon in the Philippines . The national park was established in 1967 on an area of 2003.76 hectares in Sitio Minalungao, Barangay Pias in the metropolitan municipality of General Tinio . The national park is located in the western foothills of the Sierra Madre . The name Minalungao comes from the names Mina and Lungao , which together mean gold found in caves .
The area of the national park has so far been little explored, the main attractions include several cave systems . The national park is located in the headwaters of the Peñaranda River, which has partly dug deep into the Kaarst rock and has created a canyon-like gorge.
