SC Automobile Craiova SA , also known as ACSA for short , is a former automobile manufacturer based in the Romanian city ​​of Craiova .

history

The company was founded in 1991 after privatization as the successor to Oltcit SA . In October 1994 Automobile Craiova formed the Daewoo Automobile joint venture (together with Daewoo , which held a majority of 51% in it).

According to its own website, Automobile Craiova was active as a Daewoo dealer, as a parts manufacturer and dealer and as a manufacturer of window systems between February 2002 and June 2004.

In September 2007, Ford was the sole bidder to acquire 72.4% of Automobile Craiova's capital for $ 57 million , with a commitment to invest $ 675 million in production facilities and create additional jobs. Ford took over a majority stake in both Daewoo Automobile and Automobile Craiova . Since May 2009 Ford has even held a 95.63% stake in Automobile Craiova .

The company was later renamed Ford Romania .

Models

The small car Oltcit was produced , initially under its original brand name . This was soon in Oltena changed: in 1989, 1991 or 1994. From 1995, the Oltena got a facelift and the name "Rodae" ( Ro Manian Dae woo).
