The av edition is a specialist publisher specializing in architecture , interior design , design and spatial communication .

history

The publishing house was founded in 1992 by the architect Norbert W. Daldrop. Since 2014 it has been owned by the three shareholders and publishers Norbert W. Daldrop, Petra Kiedaisch and Bettina Klett. It is based in Stuttgart-West , in a former printing and publishing house (built in 1901). Until 2013 the publishing house belonged to the av communication agency in Ludwigsburg. “Av” stands for “audiovisual media”.

Publishing program

The publisher publishes around 30 titles a year, several of which are bilingual (German and English). He works closely with museums, institutions and universities. He specializes in the fields of contemporary architecture , scenography , museum and exhibition design , event design , product design , communication design as well as retail design and architecture and publishes monographs , exhibition catalogs , compendia , and yearbooks in these areas .

The architects, engineers and designers whose works have been published by av edition include Werner Aisslinger , ARNO Design, the Art Directors Club for Germany (ADC), Uwe R. Brückner from Atelier Brückner, Nikolaus Koliusis , LAVA, Arno Lederer , Licht Kunst Licht, Dieter Rams , Werner Sobek , Marc Tamschick and TAMSCHICK MEDIA + SPACE. The publisher cooperates with the aed - Association for the Promotion of Architecture, Engineering and Design, the European Architecture Photography Prize Architekturbild , the FAMAB Communication Association , the Plastics Museum Association, the State Museum Württemberg , the MAI Media Architecture Institute, the Mia-Seeger- Foundation, the Museum of Applied Art (Frankfurt am Main) and the Museum of Design Zurich .

The publisher is a sales partner of PLOT (magazine) - the magazine for productions in space. Further partners for licenses are Laurence King Publishing (London) and Artpower (China). The co-edition Architectural School Survival Kit won the Architectural Book Award of the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in 2015 and the illustrated book El Arenal was nominated for the German Photo Book Prize in 2016 .
