The Princess of Tasmania was a ferry of the Australian Australian National Line that entered service in 1959. In its more than forty year career, the ship had ten different names under different owners and areas of operation before it was scrapped in India in 2005 as Tebah 2000 .

history

The Princess of Tasmania was laid on November 15, 1957 in the State Dockyard in Newcastle and launched on December 15, 1958. After delivery to the Australian National Line, the ship was put into service on September 23, 1959 on the route from Melbourne to Devonport .

In October 1972, the Princess of Tasmania went to the Canada Ministry of Transport, which they used between North Sydney and Port aux Basques . In 1975 the ship was renamed Marine Cruises . After a further nine years in service on this route, the Marine Cruises went in January 1984 as Majorca Rose to the Dolphin International Shipping Company, based in Valletta , to be rebuilt in Perama . After the renovation work was completed, the ship was put into service on the route from Port-Vendres to Alcúdia .

After only a few months in the drive was Majorca Rose in Piraeus launched . In the following months she changed hands twice and was renamed Equator and then Nomi without being put into service again. In 1985, the ship finally went to Adriatic Ferries as Adriatic Star , which they operated between Patras , Igoumenitsa , Corfu and Ancona from July 1985 .

In 1987 the Adriatic Star was launched again after two years of service. In 1988 it went as Lampedusa to the Italian shipping company Traghetti delle Isole , for which it was henceforth used on the route from Trapani via Ustica to Civitavecchia . After being taken out of service at Traghetti delle Isole, the ship went to the Fayez Trading & Shipping Establishment as Shahad Fayez in April 1991 in order to be used off the coast of Arabia . In 1992 it went to the Al Mahar Marine Agents Company as Al Mahrousa and remained in service off Arabia before it was launched in 1999. In 2000, Nouran Navigation took over the ship as Tebah 2000 , but did not put it back into service.

In 2005 the Tebah 2000 became the property of an Indian demolition yard. On March 30, the ship reached Alang under its own power , where it was scrapped in the following weeks.
