Avia Traffic Company flight 768 was a passenger flight operated by Avia Traffic Company on November 22, 2015 from the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek to Osh . When landing in Osh, there was a hard impact on the runway, as a result of which the wheels broke off and the aircraft slid out over the runway.
plane
The Boeing 737-300 used for Flight 768 was around 25 years old at the time of the accident and had previously been used by Citilink , Garuda Indonesia , Air Philippines and Philippine Airlines .
incident
The flight was supposed to be from Krasnoyarsk in Russia to Osh in Kyrgyzstan. Heavy fog made a landing in Osh impossible for the time being, so the machine had to land in Bishkek. After a 90-minute wait at Manas Airport near Bishkek, better conditions in Osh were reported and the plane started again with destination Osh. Shortly before landing in Osh, renewed condensation of the fog was reported. When landing on the wet runway 12 at Osh International Airport , the plane hit the runway too hard, so that all wheels broke off. As a result, the machine skidded uncontrollably over the runway and came to a standstill on uneven terrain 529 meters behind the end of the runway. The left engine of the aircraft came loose, the right one failed.
Six people were seriously injured in the accident, five were slightly injured and there were no deaths. The aircraft was not put back into service due to the severe damage.
Investigations
The incident was investigated by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Transport and the Russian Civil Aviation Authority. On August 17, 2016, the Intergovernmental Aviation Committee , a joint CIS civil aviation organization, published a final report on Avia Traffic Company Flight 768. Several reasons have been identified as the cause of the incident, including the inaccurate weather forecast, which led to the landing in heavy fog, and misconduct by the crew, especially the pilot.
