Anthony D. Barnosky

Anthony David Barnosky (born July 5, 1952 ) is an ecologist , geologist and biologist ( paleoecology ). Until his retirement he was a professor in the department of integrative biology at UC Berkeley . His research includes: a. on tipping elements in the earth system and the relationship between climate change and mass extinction .

Life

Barnosky graduated from Colorado College with a bachelor's degree in geology in 1974 . This was followed by a master's and doctoral degree in geosciences at the University of Washington , since he graduated in 1980 and 1983 respectively. He is married to Elizabeth A. Hadly , who does research in the same field.

Act

Due to his work on the tipping elements in the earth system , Barnosky calls for greater efforts in climate policy in order to still be able to meet the two-degree target for limiting climate change . Barnosky emphasizes that climate change is a major cause of flight and the cause of the mass extinction that is currently taking place .
