Awa ( Japanese 阿波市 , -shi ) is a city in Tokushima Prefecture in Japan .

history

The city of Awa was formed on April 1, 2005 from the former communities Awa ( 阿波町 , -chō ) and Ichiba ( 市場町 , -chō ) of the district of Awa , as well as Donari ( 土成町 , -chō ) and Yoshino ( 吉野町 , -chō ) of the district of Itano .
