history
The city of Awa was formed on April 1, 2005 from the former communities Awa ( 阿波 町 , -chō ) and Ichiba ( 市場 町 , -chō ) of the district of Awa , as well as Donari ( 土 成 町 , -chō ) and Yoshino ( 吉野 町 , -chō ) of the district of Itano .
