Higashikagawa ( Japanese 東 か が わ 市 , - shi , literally: East Kagawa ) is a city in Kagawa Prefecture in Japan .

history

The city was created on April 1, 2003 through the union of the three Chō of the eastern part of the former Landkawa district : Hiketa ( 引 田 町 , -chō ), Shirotori ( 白鳥 町 , -chō ) and Ōchi ( 大 内 町 , -chō ). The Ōkawa county ceased to exist.
