Axel Emil Ebbe (born March 27, 1868 in Hököpinge , Vellinge municipality ; † September 28, 1941 ibid) was a Swedish sculptor and author.

Ebbe's parents were large farmers on their own Gränja estate, which had been part of the family for several generations. Ebbe studied painting with Fredrik Krebs and sculpture with the Norwegian-Danish artist Stephan Sinding . He traveled to Berlin , Vienna , Paris and London for studies . Axel Ebbe's works can be found in many public places in Skåne. In addition to his sculptural work, he dealt with illustrations and poetry in the local dialect.

Axel Ebbe was married three times. In his first marriage he was married to the sculptor Menga Schjelderup . His last marriage took place in 1917. His third wife Elna Anderson (* 1894), whom he himself called Lillemor (little mother), had three daughters with him.

Ebbe's grave is in the Hököpinge cemetery south of Malmö .

Axel Ebbe art gallery

The art gallery designed by the architect Carl-Axel Stoltz was opened in Trelleborg in 1935 . The construction was financed by Trelleborg Stads Sparbank and Crown Prince Gustav Adolf and his wife Louise took part in the inauguration ceremony . Today the art gallery is administered by the Trelleborg Municipality .
