Azimsulfuron is a chemical compound from the group of pyrazoles and sulfonylureas .
properties
Azimsulfuron is a white solid with a phenol odor . The half-life for hydrolysis is between 89 (pH 5) and 132 days (pH 9) depending on the pH value and more than 100 days for photolysis at pH values between 5 and 9.
use
Azimsulfuron is used as an active ingredient in crop protection products. It is a herbicide that works against weeds by inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS). The inhibition of ALS leads to the cessation of cell division and the subsequent growth in plants. Azimsulfuron is mainly absorbed by leaves and buds and, to a lesser extent, roots. It is used post-emergence in rice fields against a wide variety of annual weeds. Azimsulfuron was launched by DuPont in 1996 .
Azimsulfuron was included in Annex I of Directive 91/414 / EEC on October 1, 1999. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, however, no plant protection products with this active ingredient have been approved to date.
