The Azura is a cruise ship owned by the British-American Carnival Corporation & plc . She is the second largest ship in the fleet operated under the cruise brand P&O Cruises . The ship's home port is Hamilton .

history

The Azura is a modified version of the Grand- Class , of which eleven ships were built between 1998 and 2010. Construction of the Azura began on October 27, 2008. On April 10, 2010, the ship was finally handed over to P&O Cruises. The maiden voyage started on April 12, 2010 in the port of Southampton . Originally, the ship was also registered in Southampton, but the home port was moved to Hamilton , Bermuda in November 2011 . While her sister ship Ventura is designed to be family-friendly, the Azura was built more in the style of classic cruises. The ship has a dance floor, a theater with 800 seats, an English pub called Brodie's (named after one of the founders of the P&O Line, Brodie McGhie Wilcox ) and a show lounge. It also has a large open air cinema on the pool deck.

From April 5, 2015 to April 17, 2015, the ship was modernized at Blohm + Voss . The ship was equipped with scrubbers and got a new hull painting.
